Napo Wildlife Center is a premium eco-hotel in the Yasuní National Park of Amazonian Ecuador.

This 4 day Amazon itinerary will see you flying from Quito to Coca, the gateway to Ecuador's Amazon region. From here you'll travel by boat to arrive at this premium eco-lodge, leaving the hustle and bustle behind to relax with nature and enjoy an authentic Amazon experience.

This ecotourism project includes the conservation of approximately over 130 square kilometres of the most pristine Amazon Rainforest within the Yasunì National Park, an important UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and the largest tract of tropical rain forest in Ecuador. The Napo Wildlife Center is located by a jungle lake, surrounded by stunning Amazon rainforest, perfect for wildlife and nature lovers. Spot clay licks teeming with parrots and macaws, look out for sloths, monkeys, turtles, otters, caiman and more. Take part in our daily forest and canoe excursions, kayaking, birding tours, and feel free to request hiking trails specific to your interests and abilities! The Napo Wildlife Centre is 100% community-based, and the Kichwa Añangu people employ a sustainable eco-tourism model, and all proceeds from the lodge are re-invested into community projects such as renewable energy, education, and health care

Parrot clay licks are a stunning spectacle, these are natural banks containing great amount of minerals that birds and different animals feed up with. This event starts early in the morning when hundreds of vibrantly colored birds visit the licks.

Day 1
Quito Napo Wildlife Center

This morning you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to the airport where you will board a 30-minute flight over the Andes Mountains to Colca. After landing, you will be transferred from Colca Airport to Port Francisco de Orellana, where you will then embark on a comfortable motorboat. The approximately 2-hour ride along the Napo river will include a lunch box and offers unique scenic and wildlife opportunities such as herons and kingfishers. Upon disembarking the motorboat, you will take a short break and take a peaceful canoe ride to the lake where the Napo Wildlife Centre is located. The canoe ride is a perfect opportunity to spot curios local wildlife including monkeys various bird species including toucans, parrots or macaws. Late afternoon arrival at Napo Wildlife Centre where you will have a welcome drink and be introduced to the facilities. After dinner you may choose to take an optional caiman (alligator) observation around the lake.

*Please note: This local flight has a luggage restriction of one 8kg cabin baggage and one 23kg checked baggage.

Day 2
Napo Wildlife Center; Macaw Clay Lick

Napo Wildlife Centre have a set of activities where you can choose from onsite, allowing you to create your own personalised experience deep in the Amazon. Below are suggested options you may like to choose from through-out your stay.

Early this morning, depart the lodge and make your way to the visually spectacular parrot clay lick. Easily one of the best natural wildlife experiences in Ecuador, you will see an incredible 11 species of parrots, parakeets and macaws as they sing, dance and cling to ragged clay cliffs. Please note the clay lick is subject to weather conditions. Afterward, hike along the scenic forest trail to the Kichwa community of Anagu. Here you will share you time with local family and community members, taking an authentic dive into the experiences and shared stories of these Amazonian communities.

Day 3
Napo Wildlife Center: Canopy tower and Amazon Trails

Napo Wildlife Centre have a set of activities where you can choose from onsite, allowing you to create your own personalised experience deep in the Amazon. Below are suggested options you may like to choose from through-out your stay.

After breakfast, you will depart for the incredible experience of the canopy tower. Standing 36 metres high the canopy tower, the journey to the top will take you through different levels of the forest, allowing the chance to see unique wildlife before emerging on top of a large Ceiba tree. Flocks of colourful tanagers pass, as spider monkeys cling to trees and macaws fly below.

In the afternoon you may take a hike to a terra firme trail, hiking along the forest floor to discover the deep forest interior. As you hike the trail, you have the possibility of spotting lizards, colourful manakins and the endemic Golden mantel tamarin monkeys. After the hike you may explore the lakes and creeks via dugout canoe, with the incredible possibility of running into a family of giant river otters

Day 4
Napo Wildlife Center Quito

Early departure in the morning where you will make you return via the Napo river. This will give you a last opportunity to see unique wildlife from giant otters, monk Saki monkeys and many other rare birds before boarding your flight back to Quito. Please note flight schedule will vary according to departure details and arrangements.
