6 Days
Day 1.
Upon arrival into Buenos Aires you will be met at the airport and transferred to your downtown hotel.
Day 2.
This morning enjoy a private half day city tour of Buenos Aires which is a great way to orientate yourself in this great city.
The tour commences at the historic Plaza de Mayo square, well known for its numerous political demonstrations. It is surrounded by the Government House, best known as the “Pink House”; the Cabildo (the old City Hall) and the Metropolitan Cathedral. The “Avenida de Mayo”, which starts in this square, is an interesting set of buildings of varied styles that reflect the diversity of its inhabitants. Wide avenues and green areas appear constantly trying to slow down the rhythm of this vertiginous city. A sample of this is the 9 de Julio Avenue, about 5 squares away from here, with its eight lanes divided by small green squares with old leafy trees and enriched by sculptures and fountains. In the middle of this avenue, in the “Plaza de la Republica”, the Obelisk arises as a symbol of the city.
The visit continues towards San Telmo, one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires, which was also a center for immigrant settlers and still keeps most of its architectonic patrimony untouched: its colonial houses and cobbled streets. Every Sunday, an antique fair is held in Plaza Dorrego. The area has also a lively night-life as there are many tango houses, restaurants and pubs.
Southwards, we reach the picturesque and colourful port neighbourhood of La Boca with its famous street, “Caminito”, whose architectonic characteristics reflect the culture the European citizens that arrived to these shores at the end of the 19th century, mainly Genovese sailors.
The visit continues towards the newest district of Puerto Madero; Palermo neighbourhood with its elegant residences framed by wide green areas; finally reaching the district of Recoleta, the most sophisticated neighbourhood in Buenos Aires. The Recoleta Cemetery, surprises the visitors for its rich arquitecture and the important personalities of the social and political Argentinean life, amongst whom are Eva Perón (Evita), whose remains lie there. Next to the cemetery is the church Nuestra Señora del Pilar, the Recoleta Cultural Center (previously a convent), Buenos Aires Design and the Palais de Glace.
In the evening you will be collected from your hotel and taken to Tango Piazzarola. Here you will be able to taste some delicious Argentinean dishes served with excellent wines while you enjoy the passion and charm of tango (shared service).
At the conclusion of the show, approximately midnight, return to the hotel.
Day 3.
Day at leisure to enjoy Buenos Aires
Day 4.
This morning you will be transferred to the airport in time for your flight to Iguacu Falls.
The Iguaçu Falls are considered to be the most impressive in the World, surpassing in grandeur both Niagara and Victoria. Some 275 separate cascades fall in a wild array over a winding 3 km cliff frontage into a gorge 60m deep, making it four times the width of Niagara Falls. Iguacú Falls is one of the top attractions in South America. Take a break from the hectic pace in Buenos Aires and experience nature at its finest.
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
In the afternoon enjoy a half day tour of the Brazilian side of the falls. The Brazilian side of the falls is best visited in the afternoon and provides unparalled views up into the heart of the Devils Throat, the largest section of the falls. (Entrances included)
Day 5.
This morning you will be collected from the hotel and taken to the Argentinean side of the falls where you will have 5 hours to explore the falls including the famous devils throat either with your guide or at leisure. (Entrance Included)
From the Parks Visitor's Center you will take an open train to make a 15-minute journey up to 'Cataratas Station'. From there you will spend time walking along the paths and lookouts of the superior and inferior paths, admiring really closely the imposing waterfalls which precipitate to the river from a height of 70 meters and also the amazing variety of ferns, orchids, begonias, birds and butterflies. Then you will take the train on to 'Garganta Station' and from there you will walk out 1200 meters across the top of the falls to the Devil's Throat balcony, to share one of the greatest shows on earth.
